Essex Design Guide
The Essex Design Guide continues to attract national and international recognition from leading practitioners in the urban design and planning fields. Many residential developments designed using the guidance have won awards. The Guide was updated in 1997 and again in 2005 to reflect new road types, sustainability and updated UK planning guidance.
The enhanced version of the Guide is still regarded as required reading for those designing in the context of market towns and for lower density schemes. Its central design philosophy - creating places for people - will have resonance for a long time to come.
